A throwback to Independence Day in Chicago. The giant flag in this shot is covering the Wrigley tower in Chicago. Harking back to simpler times and the great post war boom of the roaring twenties the Wrigley tower (completed 1921) was built by chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr and is a fusion of french renaissance and spanish revival architectural styles. The neo-Gothic building across the road is the Tribune Tower (completed 1925) which was built to house the Chicago Tribune Newspaper back when Newspapers were large revenue earners.
Love him or hate him; Trump is certainly impossible to avoid. This shot is looking down over the Chicago, "L" which is the second-oldest rapid transit system in the Americas dating back to 1892. The “L” is derived from the elevated nature of the system above the streets which make it such a distinctive part of the city. Taken with a 150mm focal length to get some perspective compression.
Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park back when things were a little bit warmer. Built in 1927 it was one of the largest fountains in the world at the time and was inspired by the Latona Fountain at the Palace of Versailles. Chicago, Illinois, USA.
