Some bald eagles (haliaeetus leucocephalus) building their nest as winter sets in. They were setting this nest up near Medicine Lake in Jasper National Park which is an area where it regularly gets to -35C (-31 F) in the winter. The last Aurora we were lucky enough to capture in 2018 a few days before the New Year. We had this display up at a particularly frosty Pyramid Lake in Jasper National Park; and it was quite dynamic to the eye. Aurora have been few and far between this last 12 months, so let’s hope this year we can officially call out 2018 as the solar minimum and things begin to pick up. That’s Pyramid Mountain shrouded in cloud on the left at 2,766m or 9,075ft.
Angel Glacier on the north face of Mount Edith Cavell . Originally named due to its distinctive appearance in the form of an angel it is melting rapidly and no longer connected to the lake below. It will eventually disappear completely from the face of Mount Edith Cavel. Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada.
