The Temple of Dawn or Wat Arun, is a Thai Buddhist temple in Bangkok. First known to the west via French maps in the reign of King Narai (1656–1688) the current spires , known as prang, rise to to 86 m (282 ft) and were built during the reign of King Rama II in the early nineteenth century. A medieval high celtic cross at the Kilree monastic site, in County Kilkenny. The cross is believed to be from the 9th century and is possibly that of the Northern O’Neill High King, Niall Caille, as he drowned in the nearby Kings River in 844AD. There is a 29 metre traditional high round tower in the background. Most of the round towers in Ireland date from 950AD-1100AD Ireland.
