Summer sunset at Peyto Lake. The lake was named after Bill Peyto, who was an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area. It sits at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft) in the Waputik Range of the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park. The shot was taken near Bow Summit at 2132m (or 6994ft).
The sand seems to flow around these eroded monuments like the fabric of time itself. Colloquially called the Walls of China the Lake Mungo lunette is located in South Western New South Wales, and is part of the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area. The landscape at the site is extremely fragile and hold numerous archeologically significant artefacts and so public access is now limited to those accompanied by a parks ranger or approved guide. Alpenglow on a very very cold pre dawn on the Fitzroy Massif. Fitzroy Massif. Left to right the main peaks are Cerro Poincenot (3002m), Aguja de la Silla (2938m), Monte Fitz Roy (3405m), Aguja Val de Vois (2653m). Fitz Roy was named after the captain of the HMS Beagle who explored the area with renowned naturalist Charles Darwin, after traveling up the Santa Cruze River in 1834. Alternatively called Cerro Chaltén; Chaltén is a Tehuelche (Aonikenk) word meaning smoking mountain, due to a cloud that usually forms around the tip of the mountain. Argentine Patagonia, Argentina
