Capitol Hill

Given how much world media the US presidential election is getting I thought I would post one of Capitol Hill from a few weeks back. The United States Capitol is the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. Located on the eastern end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C it sits across what is known Capitol Hill. Construction started in 1793, with the first session of congress being held in 1800. It was subsequently burnt down by the British in the war of 1812, with rebuilding ongoing until 1826. The original more modest dome was replaced with the current iconic version in renovations which were completed in 1863.
